L

Life Without Parole

  • If jurors hearing a capital case find the defendant guilty of a capital offense, they have the further responsibility of considering a variety of other circumstances regarding the crime and deciding on a sentence of either death or life without parole. If jurors opt to sentence the defendant to life without parole, the individual will spend the rest of their life incarcerated without the possibility of early release.

Contrast this with the death penalty.
