Celebrate Jury Rights Day by submitting an op-ed to your local media! In this 2-hour online workshop we will work together to pen individual op-eds to submit to our local media outlets and then critique each other's columns to improve them. In just two hours, you'll go from a blank page to an op-ed polished and ready to submit!
How will we do this?
In roughly the first hour of the workshop, we'll have a short brainstorming session on what angle your op-ed might take, general talking points you might include, how you might tie it to local interests, and so on. Then you'll draft a short piece of 600 to 700 words or so. You are free to turn your camera and audio off while you write so you don't feel like you're in a fish bowl, but you'll stay connected to the meeting so you can get help anytime if you get stuck.
In roughly the second half of the workshop, we'll go over each other's op-eds and polish them into submission-ready final drafts. Then you'll send it off in plenty of time for it to be considered for publication on or before Jury Rights Day.
