Volunteer positions available: courthouse outreach coordinator, juror rights educator
Courthouse outreach requires a commitment of as little as an hour every other week, but we encourage volunteers to spend an hour or two at least once a week at the courthouse if possible. For each location, we generally want to have one person to coordinate outreach as well as hand out brochures, plus two or more additional volunteers to share brochures.
We are actively recruiting juror rights educators for courthouse outreach at the following locations:

Host a Table
Volunteer positions available: table coordinator, table hosts
Depending on the specifics of an event, table hosting can be done by one or more people. It is also helpful to have additional people host the table to help answer questions, give everyone a chance to use the restroom or get food, etc.
Bughouse Square Debates
Saturday, 27 July 2019 from noon to 4:00 pm
Washington Square Park (aka Bughouse Square)
901 North Clark Street, across Walton from the Newberry Library
FIJA has been invited back for a second year to host an information table at the Bughouse Square Debates in Chicago. We need at least one person to coordinate and host the table, and we would like at least one more person (preferably 2-3 people) to help host the table.
The Bughouse Square Debates is an annual free speech event including the presentation of a free speech award, a main presentation, soapbox speeches and even heckling! Last year's table coordinator is unavailable to reprise that role this year, but we would love a FIJA presence at the event again. She told us that maybe one person who came up to the table last year knew about jury nullification, but everyone was definitely eager to know more and thankful for the information.
If you would like to host a FIJA table at another event, fill out the application at the bottom of this page and check the box under the Opportunities of Interest heading next to "I would like to host an information table at another event". We would be happy to help you recruit others to help host a FIJA table at an event in your community.
Light document layout/formatting help is needed to consolidate all of the electronic documents that make up our Jury Power Information Kit (JPIK) into a single .pdf file. This task will include not only bringing all the files together into one .pdf, but also reorganizing the panels of the brochures included in the JPIK in the order they should be read. This task requires knowledge of and access to Canva, Adobe or similar.
Start a FIJA Chapter
If you are interested in starting a FIJA chapter, the first step would be to get a juror rights education campaign going in your community. Once that is well-established, we will look into organizing a chapter if one would enhance juror rights outreach. Please apply for one of the courthouse outreach opportunities listed on this page, or let us know where you are interested in starting a juror rights outreach campaign by filling out the application at the bottom of the page and selecting "I am interested in starting a juror rights outreach campaign at another location".
