Courthouse Outreach

Volunteer positions available: courthouse outreach coordinator, juror rights educator

Courthouse outreach requires a commitment of as little as an hour every other week, but we encourage volunteers to spend an hour or two at least once a week at the courthouse if possible. Kate Nadolski FIJA Table Bughouse Square Debates 2018

Volunteer Kate Nadolski hosting a FIJA table at the 2018 Bughouse Square Debates in Chicago, Illinois.

Host a Table

Volunteer positions available: table coordinator, table hosts

Depending on the specifics of an event, table hosting can be done by one or more people. It is also helpful to have additional people host the table to help answer questions, give everyone a chance to use the restroom or get food, etc.

We currently have no events in need of table hosts. However, if you would like to host a FIJA table at an event we are not yet aware of, please fill out the application at the bottom of this page and check the box under the Opportunities of Interest heading next to "I would like to host an information table at another event". We would be happy to help you recruit others to help host a FIJA table at an event in your community.

Document Layout/Formatting

Light document layout/formatting help is needed to consolidate all of the electronic documents that make up our Jury Power Information Kit (JPIK) into a single .pdf file. This task will include not only bringing all the files together into one .pdf, but also reorganizing the panels of the brochures included in the JPIK in the order they should be read. This task requires knowledge of and access to Canva, Adobe or similar.

Start a FIJA Chapter

If you are interested in starting a FIJA chapter, the first step would be to get a juror rights education campaign going in your community. Once that is well-established, we will look into organizing a chapter if one would enhance juror rights outreach. Please apply for one of the courthouse outreach opportunities listed on this page, or let us know where you are interested in starting a juror rights outreach campaign by filling out the application at the bottom of the page and selecting "I am interested in starting a juror rights outreach campaign at another location".
