(Camden NJ)-- On August 2, 1997- New Jersey Governor Christie Todd Whitman, signed legislation creating a new law, that new law greatly increased the penalties for marijuana possession. Making marijuana possession a first degree crime (like rape, murder, felony assault). This law greatly interferes with the free exercise of certain religions such as RASTAFARI, which regard marijuana as a sacrament and teaches it’s spiritual, and healing powers. Ed Forchion a outspoken advocate of legalizing marijuana, and a member of the Rastafarian faith, was the First person singled out for prosecution under this (NEW) law.- Arrested Nov. 24th, 1997. -RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION- A First Amendment Violation !
Mr Forchion believe\\\'s his activism is the reason he was singled out, to teach a lesson to the marijuana reformers, it appears Mr Forchion is going to be the one teaching a lesson.

Mr. Forchion has openly called for a Jury to nullify this law. Mr. Forchion is trying to prepare his case, with a Open Advocation of Jury Nullification as a defense, without counsel. Mr. Forchion is basing his defense’s on the constitutionally permissible act of JURY NULLIFICATION. Mr Forchion wants to challenge the constitutionallity of the marijuana law itself, with a jury. This is a new law and is therefore subject to Jury Nullification! It appears Mr Forchion is right. The NJ State assit Prosecutor MR. John T. Wynne has already petitioned (June 3,1999) Judge Freeman that “Although Jury Nullification is a constitutionally permissible function of a jury Mr. Forchion should not be allowed to advertise that power to the jury”! You see not only does NJ keep it’s State Trooper’s from exercising their first amendment Rights to free speech it also denies all Jurors the right to Nullify, by denying them knowledge of it’s existance. Mr Forchion is intent on teaching many in the New Jersey area how to Nullify these unconstitutional Laws that support the treason of our government with it\\\'s \\\"WAR\\\" on drugs! Whether he is convicted or not he is showing the way!
